Holiday Time Management & Mulled Wine Sangria

How are you with time management during the holidays?

Are you able to fit it all in and enjoy yourself? Or are you a stress ball flitting from one activity to another in a glitter-filled blur? If you are the latter, I got you.

Today we are talking with professional organizer Janet M. Taylor about holiday time management tips. In 1994 Janet took her natural ability and started Totally Organized – a business dedicated to working with corporate, non-profit and government agencies. In April 2018 Janet appeared on the Rachael Ray Show where she was crowned the “Clutter-Free Queen” and she has also appeared on HGTV’S “Mission Organization”.  She is the author of “101 Secrets To Living An Organized Life” and the host and producer of a weekly podcast “Got Clutter! Get Organized!”.

  • Start by thinking about what the holidays mean to you and what type of fun you want to have.
  • Prioritize the activities that meet this criterion.
  • As the invites roll in, don’t forget to check the schedule around your event. Do you have something before or after the event that you need to plan for like a business trip that could delay you from arriving on time or an early morning meeting the day after a party.
  • Remember to add in margin…it isn’t just the activities you need to account for, but the preparation and recovery. Be sure to think about this as you fill up your holiday schedule.
  • When it comes to balancing the “must-dos” with the “want to-dos”, take a look at your schedule on a regular basis to figure out when you can find the time for grocery shopping, laundry, house cleaning, and so on.
  • If you can afford it or figure out a way to work it into your holiday budget, this might be the time of year where you hire help with some of these tasks so you can enjoy time with your family without falling behind.
  • And remember delegating tasks may also contribute to lower stress and more enjoyment during your holiday season.
