Self Care Tips for Moms & Spring Mocktails

Wise words from my fabulous guest, wellness coach Stacey Crew of Stacey Crew Wellness. Stress is the number one contributor to physical and mental health decline in moms. But if you are anything like me, you struggle with self-care. 

Maybe it’s because you are constantly caring for others. Maybe you feel like you don’t have time. Or perhaps you think it has to be expensive. This week, Stacey and I chat about why self-care is so important to be a good mom. And she gives us ways we can care for ourselves that don’t require a lot of money or time. Which I always seem to be short on.

Stacey is a Certified Wellness Coach & published Author who helps individuals and families achieve better nutrition & balance by providing a supportive environment to achieve goals and live a more fulfilling life. Stacey's Self-Care Tips for Moms

  • It’s ok to go off track once in awhile. Eat the ice cream, ignore the dishes, have another glass of wine. Just know what you need to do to bring it back.
  • Remember small changes can yield big results whether in your diet, or your lifestyle or in organizing your home. When you go to make changes to help take care of your health, make small, incremental changes that can become habits rather than a huge overhaul all at once.

  • If you are struggling to make changes to take better care of yourself on your own, look for someone to hold you accountable for practicing those changes you need.
  • If you don’t feel like you have a friend or mentor to ask, look for a professional who can help. Find someone like a health coach, a nutritionist, a personal trainer or a professional organizer who can help you develop these new healthy habits.
  • Changing your perspective can be a powerful way to combat stressful motherhood moments. Nothing is forever as a mother…even a mess of toys.

And here are those delicious mocktail recipes Stacey shared with us to help you celebrate you!

Mint Breeze

A festive splash of bubbles and cranberry with a hint of mint.

  • 4 oz San Pellegrino or bubbly water
  • 1/3 c Cranberry Juice
  • 1/2 lime, juice
  • 1 oz Bourbon or Vodka (optional)
  • Mint (garnish)
  1. Pour over ice into a glass you love and add a sprig of fresh mint for decoration. 

  2. For more mint flavor, your can muddle mint leaves in the bottom of the glass before adding liquids.

Essential Elixer

A tasty blend of good for you to help pick you up and balance you out.

  • 1 bag Celery
  • 3 small Apples
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
  1. Juice celery and apples together.

  2. If you do not have juicer, you can blend celery and cut apples in a high powered blender. Then pour into mesh juicing bag and squeeze to remove pulp.

  3. Pour mixture over ice. Sprinkle with ginger.
